I was looking for a part time job in the school holidays prior to finding full time employment. I applied to an ad in the NME. When I attended the interview I was amazed to find that I was working for Brian Epstein, manager of the Beatles.

My first position was as office junior at the fan club in Monmouth St . This involved duplicating fan club literature and sorting many sacks of mail, separating important documents relating to the business from fan mail. Most of the fan mail came from the USA and many letters were simply addressed with a single word Paul, John, George or Ringo! or even a photograph! There were many toys delivered in the mail and I regularly made trips to Great Ormond St. Hospital with them.

Whilst at the fan club I was presented with a signed 1st Edition copy of Brian Epstein's book "A Cellarful of Noise". One Christmas I also received a Card signed by Brian Epstein.

After a while I was promoted to office junior at the head office in Argyle Street . I ran errands for the company and its artists which included delivering and collecting items to the Abbey Road Studios or theatres.

I met many of the famous groups and bought Cilla Black's sandwiches when she came to the office. Visits to TV studios were regular including rehearsals for such programmes as Ready Steady Go.

I was given time to train as a bookkeeper and was eventually given responsibility for the accounts of the Saville Theatre which Epstein acquired. One of the most popular attractions being the Sunday concerts with Jimmy Hendrix etc. There were many parties which were attended by many famous faces.
